The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Fencing Team Championships and NCAA National Championships Qualification is being hosted by the University of Incarnate Word Varsity Fencing Team this weekend (March 12th-13th). Come and cheer on the UIW Fencing Team and our own Coach Jake Thayer! Event is being held at the McDermott Convocation Center on UIW’s main campus. Admission is $10. We hope to see you there!

Continue Reading →On March 23rd, University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) student Alex Sless won the Bronze medal in the Men’s Epee fencing event at the 2019 NCAA Fencing Championships in Cleveland, OH. Alex competed against top epee fencers representing top American colleges, Penn State, Harvard, Duke, Stanford, Columbia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and many more. Since 2010-2011 the growth rate has improved, showing a compound annual rate of 3%. Epee has been the best-performing weapon, growing at 6.5% per year on average since 2010-2011. Olympian Fencing Club is the juggernaut of epee fencing, generating over 400 epee fencer-events per year over the past four years. See the article here.
