We are on our way to 2017 Junior Olympics.  Over 1,800 of the best cadet (U17) and junior (U20) athletes from about 270 clubs will compete at the 2017 Junior Olympics (JOs) Championships in Kansas City, MO from February 17 – February 20, 2017.  The JOs provide a final chance for many athletes to make the U.S. National Team that will compete at the 2017 Cadet and Junior World Championships in April in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. South Texas – Erratic Growth in Fencing Activity 2008-2009 through 2015-2016

South Texas Division of USA Fencing has experienced erratic growth in fencer-events over the past seven years.  Since 2010-2011 the growth rate has improved, showing a compound annual rate of 3%. Epee has been the best-performing weapon, growing at 6.5% per year on average since 2010-2011.  Olympian Fencing Club is the juggernaut of epee fencing, generating over 400 epee fencer-events per year over the past four years.  See the article here.

Super Youth Circuit & Cadet – St. Louis, MO

Last weekend our 11 years old Ricky Gonzalez, Basis San Antonio and 11 years old Noah Pineda from St. Anthony Catholic School competed at Super Youth Circuit & Cadet fencing National tournament in St. Louis, MO. Ricky finished 2nd and received Silver medal in Youth 12 Men’s Epee event and his teammate Noah end up 15th, one victory away from the medal.  Ricky also competed in the Cadet Event and captured 3rd place and Bronze medal.  Congratulations Ricky and Noah!

March 11-14, 2016 North American Cup – Salt Lake City, UT

Congratulations to Basis San Antonio student 10 year old Leo Cheong for his excellent performance at North American Cup in Salt Lake City on March 12th.  Leo captured 6th place Finalist medal in Youth 10 Men’s Epee event.  This was Leo’s very first medal from North American Cup and we are so very proud of him.  Congratulations Leo!!!
