Beginner’s class – every Wednesday during the school year

Beginners Fencing Class is designed for anyone of age 6 and up who are new to, or have recently been introduced to fencing.  Our teaching philosophy is based on working one-on-one with our fencers to develop individual skills in a group-learning environment.  Students are asked to bring a water bottle, an extra t-shirts and warm up pants or sweatpants and comfortable sneakers.  Every student can participate for up to 4 months in Beginner’s class and full equipment is provided  by OFC: weapons, masks, gloves, jackets and electronic score machines.  Beginner will be moved to the next level when he or she has mastered specific skill sets, this may take up to four months.  Upon satisfaction of the required skill sets, the fencer will receive a formal invitation by the coach to join the next level team.  This class is offered from beginning of September until end of May.  Enrollment & payment for Beginners is the first Wednesday of each month.  Please email us in advance to request the Beginner’s forms and information!

Intermediate & Advanced competitive classes – All year around

Intermediate Class

(Intermediate 1 for ages 6, 7 & 8 and Intermediate 2 for ages 8, 9 & 10) – The Intermediate classes are a continuation of the fencing beginners’ classes and is designed for Youth 10 and some Youth 12 fencers. Some of the more advanced 10 and or 9 years old are invited to participate Wednesday’s 5pm practice with Advanced 1. Students in this level are working on improving their fencing skills acquired during beginners’ program. They will learn new moves and get a deeper understanding of fencing rules. They will participate in a practice that is organized and supervised by the coach. Students in this class usually compete in some local or regional (and, depending on interest, national) tournaments.

Advanced Class

(Advanced 1 for ages 11, 12, 13 & 14 and Advanced 2 for ages 14 and up) – This class is designed for fencers Youth 12 & older or older fencers, who compete or have competed in local, regional, national or international tournaments. Advanced level students will participate in a practice that is organized and supervised by the coach. This competitive program is for committed fencers who are willing to participate in tournaments and make fencing a part of their lives as well as looking for the possibilities of getting scholarships to prestigious colleges. The team program provides these fencers an opportunity to compete in the biggest tournaments in the country as well as International tournaments. Group sessions will focus on fencing fitness, competition strategy, judging bouts and, oh yes, FENCING.

Homeschooling class – every Thursday during the school year

Homeschooling TEAM Homeschooling Class is a recreational program and is designed for girls & boys 6 years of age and up who are interested and willing to practice as recreational and or compete in the Olympic sport of fencing.  Fencers in this level will participate every Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at our OFC facility from beginning of September until end of May.  Full equipment is provided by OFC: weapons, masks, gloves, jackets and electronic score machines, however, some equipment is recommended as it will be more personal to the fencer.  Students in this level are working on improving their fencing skills and their physical condition.  They will learn new moves and get a deeper understanding of fencing rules.  They will participate in a practice that is organized and supervised by the coach.
